One of the top Leeds United transfer news sagas of the summer, it looks like Ryan Kent is set to commit to his future at Rangers amid interest from Elland Road.
According to Football Insider sources, Kent has told the Scottish club that he will snub any new approach from Leeds in favour of staying at Ibrox for the rest of the season.
The Premier League side had made an official bid of around £10 million for the 23-year-old earlier this summer but Rangers were quick to reject that approach.
As mentioned at 888sport last week, reports state that Kent has a £20 million release clause in his contract and Steven Gerrard’s men are standing firm on their valuation.
It looks like Leeds may need to end their pursuit of Kent, with sources claiming that Kent has a ‘loyalty’ to the Rangers manager.
Gerrard has praised Kent throughout his tenure at Ibrox and the winger has developed into one of the Scottish Premiership’s most exciting talents.
Marcelo Bielsa may try one last time to persuade Kent to move to Elland Road but, with the latest reports suggesting Leeds are in for Demarai Gray, it may be a waste of time chasing the Rangers man.
Kent has been in fantastic form at the beginning of the 2020/21 campaign and Leeds fans will be monitoring the situation closely – could we see the Whites make another move in January?
Spurs Target Set For Elland Road?
The latest Football Insider information claims that Leeds are considering a move for Vitoria Guimaraes winger Marcus Edwards before October’s transfer deadline.
Edwards was a member of the Tottenham Hotspur youth football academy but made just one appearance for the first team before leaving the club.
Last season, Edwards notched nine goals and nine assists in 36 matches in all competitions and he could be set for a return to the Premier League.
However, Leeds looks like a more realistic landing spot given his history with Spurs. With a move for Dan James stalling, the Whites could focus on signing Edwards this summer.
Former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino compared Edwards to a young Lionel Messi back in 2016 and Leeds would be getting one of Europe’s top rated youngsters.
At 21 years old, Edwards has gained enough experience to thrive on the big stage and he certainly ticks all the right boxes to enjoy a long and successful career.
A loan deal looks the most plausible option at this stage – Vitoria are understandably keen to tie Edwards down to a long term contract at the club.
