Yes, Uzbekistan are a sports betting longshot to even make it out of their group, but that doesn’t mean they should be overlooked in the build-up to the tournament.

This is a momentous occasion for the White Wolves, who are appearing in their first-ever World Cup. Facing up against the likes of Portugal, Colombia and DR Congo, Uzbekistan will be up against it but their supporters will relish the opportunity just to be there.

What is the average salary for Uzbekistan players?

The average salary in the Uzbekistan 2026 World Cup squad is around £3,500 per week. The majority of players are still playing in their home country, meaning they are on considerably less than football fans are accustomed to when looking at wages in Europe’s top leagues.

Three of the 26-man group are playing outside of Asia. Three of plying their trade in the United Arab Emirates.

Who are the top earning players for Uzbekistan?

On £50,000 per week Abdukodir Khusanov is the highest-earning player in the Uzbekistan World Cup squad.

Khusanov is on one of the lower wages at Manchester City, however, and could earn significantly more if he gets another deal at the Etihad.

Both playing in Turkey, Abbosbek Fayzullaev and Eldor Shomurodov are two of the other high earners in the squad. They are on £10,000 and £20,000 per week, respectively.

How much does the Uzbekistan manager earn?

Fabio Cannavaro, a former Ballon d’Or and World Cup winner, is the Uzbekistan manager. Cannavaro’s salary is reported to be £3.5 million per year, making him one of the highest-paid managers at the 2026 World Cup.

Previously in charge of China, Cannavaro has spent most of his managerial career in Asia.
