The sports betting favourites to win the World Cup and defending European champions, Spain are the team to beat this summer.

Spain could only manage a goalless draw against Cape Verde so they need to beat Saudi Arabia on Sunday, they are the 1/12 heavy favourites with 888sport to win.

Sixteen years on from their first and only World Cup triumph, La Roja are looking to make history with an absolutely stacked squad and they could make light work of a group including Cape Verde, Saudi Arabia and Uruguay.

What is the average salary for Spain players?

The average salary of Spain’s 2026 World Cup squad is in the region of £75,000. Despite a surprising lack of Real Madrid players, the Spanish squad is packed with players at Europe’s biggest clubs, including Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Manchester City, and PSG.

Borja Iglesias at Celta Vigo, Víctor Muñoz at Osasuna, and Crystal Palace’s Yéremy Pino are three of the lowest earners in this Spain squad, but all three are on more than healthy salaries.

Who are the top earning players for Spain?

On more than £200,000 per week at Manchester City, Rodri is one of the highest-earning players in the Spain squad. Lamine Yamal’s £500,000 per week is the highest weekly wage.

Pedri, Gavi, Fabián Ruiz, and Ferran Torres are also among Spain’s highest earners. All of the quartet are on comfortably more than £100,000 per week.

How much does the Spain manager earn?

Luis de la Fuente is on around £1.6 million per year. De La Fuente isn’t in the top 10 highest-earning managers at this summer’s World Cup, despite guiding Spain to the Euros a couple of summers ago.

Prior to taking the job in 2022, De La Fuente has worked his way through the age groups as the head coach of the under-19s, under-21s, and under-23s.
