THE average weekly wage for footballers in our EFL League Two is widely reported to be £1,400.

Of course some participating players earn much more than this. In effect, ambitious clubs gamble on salaries in the hope of gaining promotion to League One. But few of the big spenders duly achieved their aim last season.

Indeed, Carlisle United splashed the cash and ended up being relegated to the National League finishing some seven points adrift of safety.

League Two outright betting saw Doncaster Rovers (champions), Port Vale and Bradford City clinch that coveted League One status.

Six points separated the top three sides prompting intense football betting throughout the campaign.

They will be joined by AFC Wimbledon who eclipsed Walsall 1-0 in the Play-Off Final at Wembley Stadium on Bank Holiday Monday 26th May 2025 thanks to a decisive goal by Myles Hippolyte in first half injury time.

So who will be the best paid League Two players during the new 2025/26 campaign?

These are the top 10 according to intelligent estimates across various online sites although players can also add appearance money and goalscoring bonuses to their basic financial remuneration packages…
