From administration to promotion, from Bielsa Ball to Premier League relegation, devoted Leeds fans have experienced the full range of emotions over the last couple of decades.
A club that was once a preeminent force in the football betting markets has fallen into yoyo territory between the Premier League and Championship.
Here are some of the most famous Leeds fans, with some surprising names…
Nick Faldo
Six-time major winner Nick Faldo is thought to be an avid Leeds fan. Faldo was born in Hertfordshire but has lived in the USA for most of his life.
Ralph Ineson
A ‘bloody good rep’ as Chris Finch in The Office, Ralph Ineson has gone on to have a diverse and impressive acting career. Ineson has starred in Chernobyl and appeared in the Harry Potter series.
Ricky Wilson
Anyone who has been to a Kaiser Chiefs gig will be well aware of how much they love Leeds United. Ricky Wilson, the band’s frontman, is a lifelong Leeds fan.
When they were looking for a new name, Wilson and co. opted for Kaiser Chiefs as an ode to Lucas Radebe’s former club.
The Brownlees
Involved in local initiatives with the club, Jonathan and Alistair Brownlee are devout Leeds fans. The pair grew up in the Leeds area and have even been known to watch Leeds matches during triathlons.
Ed Miliband
Unlike some politicians, Ed Miliband’s interest in football appears to be legitimate. The former Labour Party leader moved to Leeds with his family before his fifth birthday and went to school in the area.
Leeds fandom soon followed. Miliband is also a supporter of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots due to spending time in Boston after the family moved for his father’s work.
Jonas Gahr Store
Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre is one of the more surprising celebrity Leeds fans. It makes a bit more sense when you delve deeper, however, as English football was broadcast on free-to-air TV in Norway in the 1970s.
Støre got to watch some great Leeds sides. He became a true fanatic.
“I knew everything about Leeds. I kept a log of the games, the goals, cut out pictures of the players and had Leeds socks and buttons.”
Jon Richardson
A heartfelt tribute to Marcelo Bielsa summed up Jon Richardson’s support of Leeds United. The comedian was also part of the #MyLeeds100 campaign.
Russell Crowe
Russell Crowe isn’t just a Leeds fan. He’s even shown interest in owning the club. There aren’t many more famous Leeds fans than Crowe.
Jack P. Shepherd
Often attending matches and proudly donning Leeds jerseys in public, Jack P. Shepherd is most famous for playing troublesome Mancunian David Platt in Coronation Street, but he’s Leeds through and through.
Mel B
Born in Leeds, Mel B has been a Leeds fan from a young age. Scary Spice has promoted the club in media appearances all over the world.
Chris Moyles
Despite being brought up in Leeds, Chris Moyles didn’t begin properly supporting the club until he lived in London. Like so many Leeds fans, he reserved special praise for Bielsa.
Stefan Edberg
One of the more curious links to Leeds, Stefan Edberg has repeatedly acknowledged the Elland Road outfit as his favourite football team.
Edberg has also publicly spoken of his admiration for fellow Leeds fan, Nick Faldo.
