Every season there are a few teenagers who breakthrough in a big way. Becoming a Golden Boy betting favourite or helping their team win trophies, these players can experience a lightning-speed trip to superstardom.

The best wonderkids in FIFA 22 include a few names who have taken off over the last 12 months or so. Others have already got a couple of seasons under their belt at the top of the sport.

Just as placing an eSports bet represents a change for the next generation, these FIFA 22 future stars are a similar alteration to the recent norm.

They are the successors to Neymar, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as football’s biggest stars. Here are the 10 best 21 and under players on FIFA 22.

Matthijs de Ligt

Just sneaking onto the list of the FIFA 22 best young players is Juventus centre-back Matthijs de Ligt. The Dutch defender is 21 years old at the start of a Career Mode save, though he’s 22 at the time of writing.

Possessing solid pace and elite strength, de Ligt is already among the best defenders in the game. The 85 overall is excellent, but if he reaches his 90 potential, he could well be the best centre-back around.

Vinicius

Already starring for one of the biggest brands in all of sport betting, Vinicius Jr is unsurprisingly among the best young players in FIFA 22 with a potential of 90 according to SoFIFA.

The 80 overall isn’t all that exciting on a star-studded Real Madrid team. Five-star skill moves and four-star weak foot piques the interest a little more, though, and with his electric pace, Vinicius is very effective from the first week of a Career Mode.

It’s going to take a mammoth offer to pry him away from Los Blancos, but he’s worth every penny if he gets anywhere near that potential.

Ferran Torres

Often utilised as a centre forward by Pep Guardiola, Ferran Torres is listed primarily as a right winger on FIFA 22. The Spaniard’s four-star weak foot means he can slot in on the left just as comfortably, though.

Dribbling, acceleration and finishing are his strengths. Torres is a good player in your first season, but he can ascend to something truly spectacular with his 90 potential.

Ryan Gravenberch

The latest mega prospect from the Ajax academy, Ryan Gravenberch becomes a true all-round midfielder in FIFA 22.

A starting rating of 78 makes Gravenberch attainable if you’re in charge of a big club in Career Mode. Comfortable as a deep-lying playmaker, number 10 or box-to-box midfielder, managers can shape him into the player they need him to be.

Only 19 years old at the start of a save, it’ll take some time for Gravenberch to reach his 90 potential, but it’s worth the wait.

Ansu Fati

Spectacularly arriving on the scene just as Barcelona needed fresh blood, injury sadly derailed Ansu Fati’s breakout campaign. Back in action at Camp Nou, though, the teenager is ready to take on a bigger role for the Catalan giants.

Don’t be fooled by the low overall. Fati is one of the best FIFA 22 wonderkids, a truly elite talent who can quickly climb through the 80s and reach his lofty potential.

SoFIFA claims Fati has a release clause shy of £45 million – now that’s hard to resist.

Jadon Sancho

Much has been made of Jadon Sancho’s surprisingly low pace ratings on FIFA 22. While EA Sports have produced many of the best video games, Sancho’s speed does seem a bit harsh, even if he’s still been awarded a high overall rating.

The numbers Sancho put up in the Bundesliga are deserving of what is not only a great overall, but the fifth-highest potential in the game.

While he’s unattainable as a transfer target for the first season at least, Sancho is clearly among the best young players in FIFA 22.

Joao Felix

Into his fourth season at the senior level, it’s hard to believe Joao Felix doesn’t turn 22 until November. The Portuguese starlet is yet to make his mark with Atletico, but that hasn’t hampered his FIFA 22 numbers.

Rated at 83 with five-star skill moves, Felix is a menace to defend against with his silky dribbling and good finishing.

Often on the bench for Atletico, it might take a big Career Mode transfer for Felix to achieve his 91 potential.

Pedri

Seeing an 81 overall for an 18-year-old always makes FIFA Career Mode managers giddy. That’s exactly where Pedri starts after a majestic rise for Barcelona and Spain.

With great close control and exceptional passing stats, Pedri has the skillset to play anywhere in midfield. The high/high work rates are a nice bonus, too.

Phil Foden

Phil Foden is the only player in FIFA 22 with a 92 potential. Long hyped as Manchester City’s future, Foden has stepped up over the last year, becoming a regular for club and country.

Effective in midfield, as a 10 or on the wing, Foden is a joy to use in the game with good acceleration, elite agility and high dribbling.

Should he reach 92 in a Career Mode, Foden will be like using Messi. His 79 finishing will surge, as will his already strong numbers for passing and ball control.

Erling Haaland

Rated at 88 upon the game’s release, Erling Haaland is one of the most searched players on Futbin. While he’s a nightmare to face in Ultimate Team, the Norwegian phenomenon is just as impressive in Career Mode with a 93 potential.

To give some context to that number, Lionel Messi is the only player on FIFA 22 to be rated at 93. If you land Haaland in a Career Mode, or take over at Dortmund, you could well have the best player in the game leading the line.

With pace, power, close control, high work rate and a 6’4 frame, Haaland is the complete striker from day one. Should those attributes increase, he becomes pretty much unstoppable.
